Parking Stress Survey for Twinkle Star Children’s Home
The brief
To support a change of use planning application, our client needed to prove parking availability within a 200 metre walking distance of their Class C3 site. We were commissioned to conduct a parking survey to gather data on parking capacity and usage from 7am to 6pm, covering the operational hours of the proposed children’s home. The survey aimed to capture the current parking demand, identify peak usage times and assess overall on-street availability.
What we did
Our team carried out a detailed survey over two consecutive days, covering:
- Measuring all parking restrictions and converting them to parking capacity.
- Occupancy beat counts every hour to record parked vehicles and their location.
- Photographs to illustrate parking stress levels.
- Local public transport within the area.
The outcome
After the survey, our reporting team were able to understand the parking demand on each road and the pressure points within the survey area. The survey found that average parking stress remained below 70%, with only certain time periods and locations more heavily stressed. Based on this finding, the report concluded that the local council may consider there is sufficient capacity in the survey area to accommodate the additional parking generated by the development.
What the client said
“Alpha Parking provided exactly the evidence we needed to support our planning application. Their detailed parking stress survey gave us a clear picture of local parking capacity and demand, with professional reporting that addressed council requirements. The team’s thorough approach and clear presentation of findings made the process smooth and gave us the confidence to move forward with our application.”Twinkle Star Children’s Home
