Every parking restriction on the street depends on a correctly made traffic order and clearly communicated signs and lines. Getting this right is specialist, detail-heavy work, and it is where enforcement most often fails when it is wrong. Our Traffic Order team has worked on this for local authorities across England, Wales and Scotland for more than 20 years.

Traffic Order drafting and review
A traffic order is the legal backing for every parking restriction; if the order is wrong, the restriction cannot be enforced. Our team drafts, reviews and audits Traffic Regulation Orders (outside London) and Traffic Management Orders (London) under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the Road Traffic Act 1991 in Scotland.
Controlled Parking Zone design
Designing or reviewing a Controlled Parking Zone or residents’ parking scheme is a detailed process. We assess the current parking profile and problems, agree a draft scheme with you, then produce the clear plans and documentation the scheme and its consultation need.
Public consultations
Parking provokes strong views from residents and businesses alike. We plan, run and report public consultations on parking schemes: clear objectives and documents, full coverage of interested parties, sensible timescales, accessible methods and robust reporting.
ParkMap and GIS mapping
ParkMap and GIS systems show parking restrictions on a map instead of pages of written schedules, making traffic orders easier to manage, publish and enforce. Our specialist full-time ParkMap team provides data entry, quality checks, development support and full order management.
