Controlled Parking Zones

Controlled Parking Zones

Reviewing or implementing Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) or Resident Parking Zones?

Designing and implementing Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ) or a Residents Parking Scheme is a detailed and complicated process. We offer a wide range of services to ensure that your process is effective.

Controlled Parking Zones and other approaches to managing parking are increasingly important. Vehicle usage in the UK has risen every year since the end of the Second World War (except in 1991). The Department of Transport expects the numbers to reach nearly 32 million by the end of 2016. This means that an every increasing focus is put upon the efficient management of parking.

Planning and introducing a successful scheme requires a range of skills. We need to understand the current parking profile and problems so that we can provide practical and helpful solutions.Once we have agreed a draft scheme for Controlled Parking Zones or other parking schemes we can produce detailed and clear plans and documentation. These provide the basis for a Public Consultation to gather, analyse and report on feedback from the public and the appropriate stakeholders.  We can recommend the most useful approach to the Public Consultation and our separate webpage provides more information on this service.

Once the final design of the Controlled Parking Zones has been agreed we can produce the schedules and documentation to facilitate the implementation and our Traffic Order Team can draft and make the traffic order to reflect the agreed changes.

The support we provide can cover the whole of the process or any individual sections where additional support is required.

Our support includes assisting with:

  • Initial survey & design
  • Public consultation
  • Production of detailed designs
  • Final drafting and making of traffic order
  • Electronic data recording
  • Implementation of the final CPZ or Resident’s parking scheme
