First Nationally Recognised Notice Processing Course
In partnership with London Borough of Hillingdon, Alpha Parking has introduced the first nationally recognised Level 2 Notice Processing Course for all staff involved in Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) management.
“The idea for a notice processing course came out of the implementation of the Traffic Management Act (TMA),” says Hillingdon Parking Administration Manager Angela O’Shea. “To raise standards and provide a professional service I wanted to develop a bespoke course for our notice processing staff.”
The course has been designed to provide a foundation of knowledge in the legislation, objectives, principles and approach of notice processing, with further detail on areas such as litigation, mitigation and challenges, covered in the later modules.
The most innovative feature of the course is an online examination process, which must be taken after day one of the course. This, says Alpha Parking’s Penny Winder, establishes whether delegates have grasped the principles of this complex subject before moving on to more detailed elements of the course.
There is also a flexibility to extend the training, with additional days, to focus on areas such as adjudication, debt recovery, permits & dispensations.
The course is the first of its kind to be accredited by the ILM. Recognition is given only to courses meeting the Institute’s demanding criteria. Part of the City & Guilds Group, the ILM applies the same quality assurance processes as for other City & Guilds courses and looks for elements reflecting the additional skills that are inherent in a specialism like notice processing e.g. the appeals process.
The initiative was originally developed as part of Hillingdon’s rolling training programme, but will be offered as a 3-day Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) level 2 course to notice processing staff throughout the country from October 2009. |
