March 2008 Congratulations to the Alpha Parking Training Award winners VINCI Park UK has won the Alpha Parking Training Award at the 2008 British Parking Awards for its entry 'Training programme delivers improved compliance at Leicester City Council.' The award was announced by the well-known actress and author Meera Syal, who hosted the seventh annual British Parking Awards on 7 March. Nearly five hundred parking professionals attended the awards lunch at London's Dorchester Hotel. In 2006 Leicester City Council successfully applied to introduce decriminalised parking enforcement, which brought a need to train an established team in new techniques. There was also a requirement to train additional staff as the team doubled in size. The training was based on the VINCI Improvement Path (VIP) programme. The contractor also piloted a new approach to parking attendant recruitment. We would also like to congratulate Alpha team members Luke Harding and Matt Kay who took to the stage along with Sandwell's Deputy Parking Manager Anjna Patel to receive a special award for their sponsored walk in aid of the Parasol charity, which supports British troops injured in hostilities abroad. |
